About
Campus Recreation clubs provide an opportunity for students, faculty and staff, and others from the campus community to participate in activities throughout the year that might not otherwise available on campus. Each club operates independently; some are more social groups with very little structure, while others operate in a more formal setting.
Most importantly, our clubs provide a fun, social environment for those with similar recreational interests.
Clubs
The U of S Swing Dance Club provides group lessons and dances for students in a welcoming, accessible, and low-pressure environment! No partner or previous dance experience is necessary as we start right from the beginning. All classes are on campus in the PAC (Room 101 studio). Memberships provide access to weekly dance lessons and social dances, but drop-in pricing is also available. Join us to learn the fundamentals and history of Lindy Hop, a joyful and playful social dance, and to explore other swing dances like Charleston, Collegiate Shag, Blues, and Balboa!
Membership Requirements
Members must be a valid USask student or over 18 years of age to register. The club limits enrolment to 70 participants of which only 25% of memberships will be sold to non-students. No partners required.
Note - Only clean, non-marking shoes will be allowed in the dance studio. The less grip on your dance shoes the better!

A relaxed and supportive club that provides training opportunities for the three components of triathlon: swimming, biking and running. The club welcomes anyone from the person just trying to stay fit through cross-training, the beginner trying to get into the sport of triathlon, or the more advanced athlete trying to maintain conditioning over the off season. The club also offers strength and conditioning and yoga sessions instructed by the Human Performance Center, and when coaches are available, instruction is provided for swimming and running sessions approximately once per week.

Our club is the home of kayak polo in Saskatchewan. Each team has five players on the pitch who compete to score in their opponent’s net. Kayak polo combines kayaking and ball handling skills with the speed and contact of hockey as well as the tactics and positional plays of basketball. As such, the sport requires teamwork in addition to techniques unique to kayak polo. The first half of each practice is dedicated to the development of kayaking skills and kayak polo specific drills, while the last half of practice is reserved for a friendly scrimmage to practice the learned skills.
Kayaks and all required gear are provided for use at the PAC pool during the fall and winter program as part of the membership fee. Non-members can drop-in at club nights and participate (for a fee).
Important: 2025-26 club memberships for students are highly subsidized and participants are expected to attend practices to hold/maintain their spot. No prior kayaking experience for participants is required (participants can learn all skills during club nights), however practices will require an intermediate level of fitness and are geared towards individuals that enjoy a fair level of competitiveness.

The U of S Karate-do teaches a traditional Japanese style of karate called Shito-Ryu, now in association with Kyokai Karate, an organization dedicated to preserving the classical techniques and philosophy of Japanese martial arts. Shito-Ryu is characterized by its quick, powerful linear movements, blocks, strikes, and kicks. In addition to a wide variety of instructional opportunities—including seminars, tournaments, and special training sessions—the U of S Karate-do also offers instruction in Ryukyu Kobudo (traditional Okinawan weaponry) and Iaido (Japanese swordsmanship).
