About
Our club is the home of kayak polo in Saskatchewan. Each team has five players on the pitch who compete to score in their opponent’s net. Kayak polo combines kayaking and ball handling skills with the speed and contact of hockey as well as the tactics and positional plays of basketball. As such, the sport requires teamwork in addition to techniques unique to kayak polo. The first half of each practice is dedicated to the development of kayaking skills and kayak polo specific drills, while the last half of practice is reserved for a friendly scrimmage to practice the learned skills.
Kayaks and all required gear are provided for use at the PAC pool during the fall and winter program as part of the membership fee. Non-members can drop-in at club nights and participate (for a fee).
Important: 2024-25 club memberships for students are highly subsidized and participants are expected to attend practices to hold/maintain their spot. No prior kayaking experience for participants is required (participants can learn all skills during club nights), however practices will require an intermediate level of fitness and are geared towards individuals that enjoy a fair level of competitiveness.
