Located behind the Education Building on the USask Saskatoon campus, the new USask Rec Disc Golf Course offers a unique outdoor recreation experience in the heart of Saskatoon. The course winds through a scenic, park-like setting, providing an accessible and enjoyable activity for students, staff, and the wider community.

The goal of disc golf is to play each hole in as few throws as possible. One throw (or stroke) is counted each time the disc is thrown and when a penalty occurs. The player with the lowest total strokes for the entire course wins. The hole is completed when the disc lands in the basket or its chains.

Never throw when players or other patrons are within range. Always be aware of your surroundings and environment. Players must stay behind the player who is throwing until the throw is completed.

Each hole begins with a tee throw. Tee throws must be completed within or behind the designated tee area.

The lie is the spot where a player’s previous throw has landed. It can be designated with a marker, or the disc can be left where it landed. A player’s subsequent throw is made from directly behind the lie. When on the fairway, players are allowed to run up and follow through on their throw after they have released it. Any throw within 10 meters of the target requires that the player maintain balance and not move past the lie until the disc comes to rest.

The player with the least number of strokes on the previous hole is the first to throw on the next hole. After all players have thrown, the player whose disc is farthest from the hole always throws first.

A mandatory, or mando, is one or more designated trees or objects in the fairway that must be passed to the correct side as indicated by an arrow. If the disc passes to the wrong side of a mandatory, play from the previous lie and add a one-throw penalty.

A disc that lands more than two metres above the ground or in a hazard is considered an unplayable lie. After declaring an unplayable lie the disc must be thrown from a new lie one metre into the fairway from where the disc crossed into out of bounds territory, but no nearer the hole. A one stroke penalty is counted on unplayable lies, including discs that land in permanent water hazards, on roads, or significantly outside of the course boundaries.

Discs can be rented from either the Physical Activity complex equipment desk or the Equipment Desk in the Education Building.

The renter bears full responsibility for any lost, stolen, or damaged equipment.

Any lost discs can be returned to the Equipment Desk in the Education Building where they will be held until the owner comes to claim it.
