Reopening Protocols

The Fit Centre and fitness classes are open to USask students.
 

Hours of Operation

Monday - Sunday
10:00am - 6:30pm

We will be closed on all STAT Holidays.

Health
Screening

You will be required to answer daily health screening questions.

Physical Distancing

Increased spacing between members, equipment, and cardio machines.

Students
Memberships

All students who have been assessed the student recreation fee are able to use the Fit Centre and Campus Recreation programming.

Facility Amenities 

Showers and locker rooms will remain closed, with the exception of washrooms in the Fit Centre.

No towel service, equipment rentals, or access to day lockers.

Swimming pools, open rec, the track, and racquetball/squash courts remain closed.

Sanitization

Increasing the frequency of cleaning and sanitization, especially high touch areas such as equipment, door handles, waterbottle fill stations, etc.

Hand sanitizing stations will be located at the entrance of the PAC and throughout the Fit Centre for patrons use.

Member Protocols

If you are feeling ill, please stay home. 

Students must wear a face mask while entering and exiting the PAC and in all indoor public spaces. Effective November 27th, masks are mandatory while exercising.

Please do not arrive earlier than 5 minutes before your scheduled time. Please exit the facility immediately after your work out.

Gym Capacity

The Fit Centre has a limit of 25 users per 1 hour time slot.

You must sign-up online via your USask Rec account to secure your 1 hour time slot.You may secure only one 1 hour time slot per day, up to 3 days in advance.

Group Fitness
Classes

All group fitness classes will be held in the dance studio and the triple gymnasium.

Group fitness class sizes will be limited - see class registrations online for availability and more details. You can secure your spot up to 3 days in advance.

Once you register online and come to the PAC, please enter the PAC through the turn stiles and line up on the physical distancing markers. A staff member will direct you from there.

Information

Students will be required to arrive for their exercise session already changed, bringing your own towel and water bottle (filled).

There will be a small space to store outdoor shoes and winte jackets when accessing the facility.

All members are to follow signage to ensure physical distancing.

Other Areas
of Recreation

All other areas of recreation remain closed and will open when approved and safe to do so.

Fit Centre re-opening FAQ

Q: Will there be a limit on how many people can enter the Fit Centre?

A: Yes, we are limited to 25 people to enter the Fit Centre per hour time slot and group fitness class sizes will be limited - see class registrations for availability.

Q: Can any member book a time slot to use the Fit Centre or fitness classes?

A: No, at this time we are only allowing USask students to access the Fit Centre and fitness classes. We will continue to monitor and re-evaluate our capacity numbers and hope to be able to open the Fit Centre and fitness classes to more members.

Q: I am a first year student and don't have a student ID card yet, can I still access the Fit Centre?

A: Yes, if you are a first year student and do not have your student ID card yet, you can still enter the Fit Centre but you must bring valid photo identification. Students can apply for an ID card at students.usask.ca and pick them up at the Shop USask bookstore at Preston Crossing.

Q: If I am not a USask student, when will I get access to the Fit Centre?

A: We will continue to monitor and re-evaluate our capacity numbers and hope to be able to open the Fit Centre and fitness classes to more members.

Q: Am I being charged for my membership? Can I cancel my membership?

A: All monthly and yearly paid membership fees have been paused as of April 1st, 2020. Please know, as we begin to re-open, not all recreational areas will be available and it may be a staggered approach. We appreciate your patience with us but if you wish to cancel your membership, please email usaskrec@usask.ca.

Q: Do I need to reserve a time to work out?

A: Yes, you must log on to your USask Rec account and secure a spot in our 1 hour time slots, up to 3 days in advance. If you are registering for a 10:00am time slot, registration opens 3 days in advance at 10:00am. (You can find the log in button if the top right hand corner of your screen once on our registration website.)

Q: Do I need to wear a face mask?

Q: When can I arrive for my work out?

A: We ask that our students who have secured a work out time to arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to scheduled their time slot and exit the building immediately after.

Q: Can I sign up for more than one time slot per day?

A: Unfortunately, no. In order to keep availability opportunities available to all students, each student is limited to sign up for 1 hour time slot per day.

Q: Will walk-ins be accepted if there is room?

A: Yes, but we do anticipate to have full bookings and recommend you secure your spot prior to arriving at the Fit Centre. There is no guarantees that spots will be available and you will be required to use your own smartphone to log into our system and secure your spot. No exceptions.

Q: If I arrive late to my scheduled workout time, will I still be able to workout? Will my time be extended?

A: If you arrive later than 10 minutes to your scheduled workout time, we will offer your spot to drop-ins (if any). If you arrive late and there is room for you to workout, your time will NOT be extended and you must exit the building at the end of your scheduled workout time. No exceptions!

Q: Will the locker rooms, showers, and towel service be available?

A: No, all day lockers, locker rooms, shower, and towel service is closed.

Q: If lockers are closed, where can I put my bag and personal items?

A: We ask that you arrive to the Fit Centre ready to work out. There is a small space to store outdoor shoes, a winter jacket, and a small gym bag. We recommend that you do not bring a gym bag or unnecessary items into the Physical Activity Complex as there is no place to securely store it and we are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please bring a pre-filled water bottle.

Q: Where can I park?

A: Paid parking is located in front of the PAC in Lot 3 and there a few meter parking stalls available. Paid parking is also available at the Stadium Parkade.

 

 

 

Our state of the art fitness facility operates out of the College of Kinesiology Physical Activity Complex (PAC) and houses 80+ pieces of cardio equipment, a fit studio, free weights, weight machines and a 40 ft climbing wall. We provide an opportunity for you to improve and maintain your health by creating a fun, friendly, and invigorating atmosphere.
